THE FASCINATION OF HISTORY
The legend of Ferrari Trento began in 1902 with a man, Giulio Ferrari, and his dream of creating a wine in Trentino capable of competing with the best French Champagnes. He was a pioneer; the first to realize the extraordinary vocation of his area, and the first to made substantial plantings of Chardonnay in Italy.

1945
From the ruins of the Second World War, a rebirth brings the first Riserva wines to light. In 1943, Trento was bombed and Giulio Ferrari took refuge in his hometown—though not before having the winery in the city centre sealed behind brick walls. Upon his return, an invaluable treasure emerged untouched: the forefather of Trentodoc discovered that time had bestowed remarkable complexity and elegance upon his sparkling wines.
1952
Giulio Ferrari passed on his obsessive devotion to quality to Bruno Lunelli. The patriarch of the family that would go on to transform Ferrari Trento sparkling wines into the foremost ambassadors of the Italian art of living worldwide did not hesitate for a moment: he went deeply into debt to acquire the company, which at the time produced just 9,000 bottles.
1972
A closely guarded secret led to the creation of the most awarded Italian sparkling wine of all time: Mauro Lunelli deliberately “forgot” 5,000 special bottles, born from the grapes of the Maso Pianizza vineyard, which would become the first Giulio Ferrari Riserva del Fondatore.
